Johnson Center weight loss program discriminatory against older students

I am writing in regards to the Jan. 29 “Motivated to Lose” news story to say that readers need to be aware that this (Time to Change Weight Loss Program) is discriminatory because of age.

I am a 28-year-old (almost 29) junior here at UK and, after checking out the program prior to the release of the story, became very discouraged to see that an age limit had been put on the program.

For me, this is an outrage and makes me believe that, although older than most students at this university, I am being left out of an activity that could be beneficial to my health. It should not matter how old you are to be able to lose weight and exercise, but the fitness center seems to think differently.
