Kentucky STUNT concludes California week 4-1

Kentucky STUNT completed five games in California, finishing 4-1 in the past week.

The first game was on Wednesday, March 20, against Vanguard, which Kentucky won 21-8.

The Cats started off the first quarter, partner Stunts, by winning the first point and took the final two to end the quarter 4-1.

Kentucky then won the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, with all four points to go into half up 8-1.

After the half Kentucky continued its lead during jumps and tumbling, going into the fourth winning 11-3.

In the fourth quarter, team routines, the Cats earned 10 points while Vanguard claimed five for the final score of 21-8.

For the second game of the day, Kentucky faced the host team, Concordia-Irvine, and won 21-10.

In the first quarter, the Cats took the first and third points and tied the second and fourth to go into the second up 4-2.

Kentucky gained a lead in the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, when it won all four points going undefeated against Concordia-Irvine to lead 8-2 at half.

In the third quarter, jumps and tumbling, Kentucky won the first two points before the teams tied the final two routines to see the Cats lead 12-3.

Kentucky maintained the lead in the final quarter, team routines, winning nine points to Concordia’s six to win the game.

Moving into the weekend at the 2024 The Joust event, Kentucky started off game one on Friday strong against Cal Poly, winning 18-12.

The Cats gained a lead in the first quarter against the Mustangs by winning the first and final points to lead 3-2 after one quarter.

The Cats continued their lead in the second quarter with four more points to Cal Poly’s two, going into halftime up 7-4.

In the third quarter Cal Poly was able to tie the game with UK, earning three points in the quarter while Kentucky was only able to manage two gaining its lead back.

In the fourth quarter, Kentucky won the game, taking nine points while Cal Poly got six, resulting in the 18-12 final.

Kentucky faced Arizona State in game two on Friday, winning 23-2 in dominant fashion.

In the first quarter, the Cats took all four points, going undefeated against the Sun Devils 4-0.

Kentucky maintained its lead in the second quarter, winning all four points while again holding Arizona State to zero to lead 8-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Kentucky won the first three points and the teams tied on the final routine, allowing the Cats to maintain a lead of 12-1 heading into the final quarter.

Kentucky sealed its victory in the final period, scoring 11 points in the final quarter compared to just one for the Sun Devils.

Kentucky ultimately dropped its final game of the event in the last game versus Hope International 17-16.

Kentucky started off the first quarter with partner stunts, winning the first point before Hope would then win the next three to lead 3-1 after one quarter.

The Cats started off with a bang in the second quarter, taking the first two points before Hope won the third routine. The teams tied on the final routine of the period, allowing Hope to have a 5-4 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Hope took the first point and Kentucky won the second before the teams tied on the third routine and the Cats won the final point of the quarter to tie the game at 7-7 going into the final stanza.

In the fourth and final quarter, both teams earned two points on the first routine, but the Cats took a one-point lead after the second routine.

Hope bounced back to tie the game in the third routine and the teams ended the fourth in a 14-14 tie.

Going into overtime, Hope took three points to win it over Kentucky’s two.

Kentucky returns to action on April 6, facing Mercyhurst and Ashland in the 2024 Ashland Tournament in Ohio.
