Kentucky women’s soccer (9-3-5) fell 1-0 to Ole Miss (7-7-3) in its regular season finale on Thursday night at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

Neither team had many opportunities in the first half until Kentucky’s Ulfa Ulfarsdottir had a scoring opportunity, but just missed wide left.

The missed effort saw the score tied 0-0 at halftime, with both teams putting in strong defensive efforts.

In the second half, Wildcats’ goalkeeper Marz Josephson had multiple saves, including one on the Rebels’ Gili Johnson that hit the goal post in the 64th minute. Josephson would end the game with five saves on the night.

With the final whistle under five minutes away Kentucky’s Tanner Strickland recorded a foul in the box that allowed Ole Miss’ leading scorer, Kelly Brady, to score the game-winning goal on a penalty kick.

Kentucky had one more chance with a corner kick in the 90th minute but was unable to capitalize, falling 1-0 to end the regular season.

Kentucky had seven total shots with two on goal and four corner kicks. Ole Miss had 12 total shots with six on goal and four corner kicks.

Kentucky finished its regular season .500 or better in SEC play for the first time since 2014.

With the defeat Kentucky will head to Pensacola, Florida, for the Women’s SEC Tournament for the first time since 2020.

The Cats, who are the No. 7 seed in the tournament, will take on No. 10 seeded LSU on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. ET.
