Video: Fans sprint across Avenue of Champions to begin setting up tents at 7 a.m. (The rushing starts at the 25-second mark.)

UK fans from across the state sprinted across Avenue of Champions at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning to get prime real estate for Big Blue Madness tickets.

People gathered as early as Tuesday evening, bringing lawn chairs and coolers, for the four-day event.

Big Blue Madness signifies the start of the UK basketball season.

“It’s all about talking about the season,” Dallas Hoskins said. “We know this leads up to seeing them at Madness for that first time.”

Brandon Walker, a sports management major at Morehead State, said he plans on missing class this week to ensure he gets tickets.
