UK softball travels to Arkansas for weekend series

After setting numerous offensive records in a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday, UK looks to continue its winning ways as it travels to Arkansas for a three-game series.

UK (33-12, 9-6 SEC) is coming off two wins against Middle Tennessee State in which the No. 17 Cats put up 20 runs in 12 innings.

The five home runs scored by the Cats in in game two of the series is a school record. UK also had 33 total bases in game two, tying the school record.

Junior pitcher and first baseman Lauren Cumbess is on an 11-game hitting streak, which is a career best. In the two-game set with MTSU, the Cats hit .413.

In the circle, Cumbess and freshman pitcher Katie Henderson picked up the wins on Wednesday with Cumbess getting the win in game one after relieving freshman Ellen Weaver.

Henderson threw a five-inning complete game in game two to earn her third win of the season.

Arkansas (28-16, 6-9 SEC) is coming off a series win over then-No. 9 Missouri.

Senior pitcher Chelsea Cohen leads the Razorbacks in the circle with a 13-8 record and 3.05 ERA.

Sophomore utility player Devon Wallace leads the team at the plate with a .402 average and 27 RBIs. Wallace’s on-base percentage is .631 this season.

Junior infielder Chloe Oprzedek is leading the Razorbacks in RBIs with 34 along with her .322 average.

The three-game series will get started Friday at 7 p.m. and will finish with games on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

All games will be played at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Ark.
