Nebraska running back Braylon Heard is transferring to UK, according to Joe Schad of ESPN.

The 5-foot-11 running back rushed for 348 yards and three touchdowns on 52 carries during his sophomore season at Nebraska, which ranked fourth on the team. The Cornhuskers return running back Ameer Abdullah, who rushed for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns a year ago.

Heard is from Youngstown, Ohio, and attended Cardinal Mooney High School, the same high school as UK head coach Mark Stoops and tight ends coach Vince Marrow, who spent two years as a graduate assistant on the Nebraska staff.

Heard was rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and was also ranked among the top five running backs in the class of 2011.

Heard will have to sit out the 2013 season under NCAA transfer rules.
