Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes received a subpoena from a federal grand jury in Lexington for documents related to her 2014 and 2015 political campaigns.

The subpoena came about a week ago, as did another subpoena for Grimes’ father and major campaign contributor Jerry Lundergan.

According to the Courier-Journal, Grimes’ attorney David Guarnieri said in a statement that the subpoenas relate to Grimes’ campaign finances, but the subpoena against her father requests records belonging to him and two of his companies.

Grimes was re-elected as Secretary of State in 2015.
