UK joins initative to improve healthcare

UK is partnering with Indiana University School of Medicine to improve healthcare and lower its cost. 

UK will receive $4.6 million from a $46 million grant-funded initiative called the Great Lakes Practice Transformation Network, according to UKNow. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services fund the four-state program.

GLPTN transforms care for over 10 million patients by training and deploying quality improvement advisers, according to UKNow. Almost three dozen universities and state-connected groups are in GLPTN. 

About 1,875 Kentucky clinicians will receive technical assistance to be able to use tools, information and support from the GLPTN network, according to UKNow.  

UK’s Kentucky Regional Extension Center and its partners will support GLPTN’s more than 15,500 clinicians.
