“I was working on Ag Ambassador events for Ag Roundup when I heard a startling noise,” said Hannah Sheer, an animal science and agriculture economics senior. “The next thing I knew we were all sitting in the dark.”

Ross Reasor, a dispatcher for the Delta Room, said power outages are much easier to deal with after 5 p.m., when everyone is off campus.

He used to work 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., the shift when power outages usually occur. He said it is easier for one person to manage a power outage during that shift than for many people to manage an outage during hours when most people are on campus.

This was the “first one in the day, in a while — years,” Reasor said. “Seems to me anyway.”

Johnson said they are repairing the problem insulator and hoped to have it fixed either late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday.

With assistance from Kentucky Utilities, Johnson said, the failed insulator was bypassed with the use of two transformers. One transformer was up around 1:30 p.m. and the other at 2.
