More than 100 people and performers from across the country gathered on Saturday in the Student Center to celebrate African traditions and culture. Taste of Africa, in its sixth year, featured performances of African dances, songs, poetry, fashion and a buffet of African cuisine.

It was the African Student Association’s largest annual event and serves as an educational vehicle that showcases African culture. It also raises money for charities, such as Lexington’s International Book Project and Medical Bridges, a nonprofit organized by students that redistributes surplus medical supplies to countries in need.

“We just want to share our culture and talent with UK and the Lexington community,” said Stella Achenjang, who coordinated the event.
