Effects of bullying still felt in college
November 12, 2016
According to USA Today College, about 15 percent of college students report being bullied. Many bullying-related consequences, however, are continued from earlier years.
One in four K-12 students experience bullying, the report said. Long term effects of bullying for both the bully and bullied include academic problems, anxiety, depression and even substance abuse.
Many colleges have counseling centers and suicide hotlines. Goals of these programs include preventing suicides and bullying-related violence and providing support for those who experience bullying in college or still feel the effects of previous bullying.
