Trump nominates Betsy DeVos for education secretary

President-elect Trump has selected a known charter-school advocate, Betsy DeVos to be his secretary of education.
DeVos is a known supporter of conservative causes, to which she donates large amounts of time and money. She is also the chairwoman of the American Federation for Children, which advocates for the expansion of charter schools and private voucher programs.
I am honored to work with the President-elect on his vision to make American education great again. The status quo in ed is not acceptable.

DeVos, as well as South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who Trump nominated to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, will add gender diversity to a cabinet that is expected to be largely white men.
