Kentucky sharpshooter Amelia Hassett has been selected in the third round of the 2026 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, stamping her name as a part of a historic draft class in the Kentucky women’s basketball program.
With her selection, Kentucky now sees its first draft class that have three selections to the league.
The Australia native played and started in all 67 games while she was a Wildcat, and finished the 2025-26 season averaging 9.6 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 1.7 APG.
Prior to Kentucky, Hassett played at Eastern Florida, a JUCO program. In two seasons with the Titans, she hit second in all-time scoring with 919 points and was the top rebounder with 659. In 2023-24, she led the team in PPG (19.0), RPG (12.7), BPG (2.7) and SPG (1.5).
Moreover, Hassett set three single-season school records at Eastern Florida, including double-doubles (21), points (609) and blocks (87).
In her first season with the Wildcats, she averaged 8.6 PPG and 7.9 RPG and recorded three or more 3-pointers nine times on the season.
Although most known for her shooting from deep, often dishing out perfect and near-perfect numbers from 3-point range, Hassett was largely credited for her defensive work ethic from head coach Kenny Brooks. With her exhausted eligibility, Kentucky not only loses a key perimeter shooter but just a general workhorse that drove the team’s defensive success.
Nearing the end of this 2025-26 season, the forward hit a consistent stride from beyond the arc, and was crucial in helping to lead the Cats through postseason success.
Hassett broke Rhyne Howard’s single-season school record for 3s with 99 on the season, which sits at No. 9 in the nation. She also finished at No. 22 for 3-pointers per game with 2.75.
