President Donald Trump signed a funding bill ending the longest recorded U.S. government shutdown after 43 days on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The bill funds three annual spending bills, according to the Associated Press, extending the rest of the government’s funding through Jan. 30, 2026.
The bill includes the reversal of the Trump administration’s decision to lay off roughly 600,000 federal workers since the shutdown began, according to the New York Times, and guarantees of payment once the shutdown is over.
The U.S. government will reopen and resume normal operations, according to The Washington Post, including allowing federal workers to return to work.
