Esteban Núñez del Prado finished with four new Bolivian national records at the World Aquatics World Cup in Carmel, Indiana.
The Santa Cruz, Bolivia, native was successful in all four of his short-course races, setting new Bolivian national records in each event.
In the 100-meter butterfly, Núñez del Prado touched the wall with a personal-best time of 52.82 seconds, placing No. 21 and earning his first Bolivian national record of the meet.
The sophomore also competed in both the 100- and 200-meter individual medleys. In the 100, he finished with a time of 54.73 to place No. 14, and in the 200, he posted another personal best of 2:01.38, finishing No. 20.
Núñez del Prado also competed in the 200-meter breaststroke, placing No. 23 with a time of 2:16.39 — his fourth and final Bolivian national record of the meet.
Previously in his swimming career, Núñez del Prado competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing No. 23 in the men’s 200-meter individual medley.
During his freshman year at Grand Valley State University, he helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team win gold at the 2025 NCAA Championships with a time of 1:18.10.
At the GLIAC Championships, he competed in seven events, bringing home three golds and two bronzes while finishing top five in all events.
The Kentucky men’s team started its season ranked No. 21 and next will face No. 2 Indiana.
Núñez del Prado and the Wildcats return to the pool Oct. 22 at Lancaster Aquatic Center to take on the Hoosiers starting at 11 a.m. EST.
