Kentucky STUNT competed in a doubleheader Friday, Feb. 13, in Shawnee, Okla., at the Oklahoma Baptist STUNT tournament.
The Wildcats earned two victories on Friday, defeating Arizona State 33-12 and Texas Woman’s University 28-11.
Kentucky was prepared for the rematch, defeating Arizona State 24-2 in the 2025 season.
The Wildcats controlled last season’s meet from the opening heat, allowing points only in the jumps and tumbling, pyramid and tosses segments. After identifying those areas as weaknesses in previous competitions, Kentucky attempted to improve them for this upcoming match.
Kentucky did not compete against Texas Woman’s University last season. However, they prepared hard for their first match between the two schools.
After sweeping four wins in the 2026 Bluegrass Classic on Sunday, Feb. 1, the Cats had a lot of pressure to continue the streak this weekend. As well as having an almost perfect season last year with a 29-3 overall season.
In the opening match against Arizona State, Kentucky took a quick lead. The Wildcats won the first point in partner stunts and added five more to take a 6-2 lead after the first period.
Kentucky extended its advantage in the second period, scoring six points in pyramids and tosses to build a 12-4 lead at halftime.
After halftime, the third period focused on jumps and tumbling, and the teams split the first two routines. Kentucky maintained its lead and entered the fourth period 16-6.
During the fourth-team routine, the Wildcats outscored the Sun Devils 17-6 to secure the 33-12 victory. Even though the Sun Devils scored 6 points, Kentucky still maintained a large advantage and secured another victory over Arizona.
In the second match of the day, Kentucky faced Texas Woman’s University.
The Wildcats again started strong, taking a 3-1 lead in partner stunts after the first period. Kentucky added five points in the second period, pyramids and tosses to carry an 8-4 advantage into halftime.
After halftime, Kentucky outscored Texas Woman’s University 5-3 in the third period to take a 13-7 lead. The Wildcats sealed the win in the fourth, outscoring Texas Woman’s University 15-4 to clinch the 28-11 victory.
After the phenomenal 29-3 season last year, the Cats have a lot to prove this season. Maintaining their position as national runner-up or even national champs this season.
However, since last season, the stunt team has lost five seniors who were critical parts of the team. Specifically, senior Chloe Moxley, who was named second-team All-American in 2025.
As well as Aisling Frost, who also made second-team All-American in 2024 and represented STUNT on UK’s SAAC in the 2024-25 school year as secretary. And freshman Makena Carter, who was a dominant flyer for the team, did not return.
Without these key athletes, it will be interesting to see if STUNT can maintain an almost perfect season or if they had the perfect roster.
