Kentucky forward Teonni Key has been selected No. 22 overall by the Toronto Tempo in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
The selection leads Key to being the Tempo’s second-ever WNBA draft pick as the team starts action this year as a part of a recent two-team expansion in the league. Moreover, this makes her the second-ever pick in the Kenny Brooks era of Kentucky.
The pick also marks just the second time in program history that Kentucky has produced draft selections in back-to-back years, the first coming in 2013 and 2014.
Key’s value was shown as unmistakable when the forward went down with an early-season elbow injury. While she was sidelined, the Cats went 2-4 and lost three straight games, two of those being against unranked opponents.
Luckily recovering from the injury on the shorter end of the timeline, Key got right back to prime performance with a double-double in her first game back against Arkansas with 15 points and 10 assists.
The forward finished the season averaging 11.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 1.2 APG with 51.2% shooting from the field, playing an integral role in guiding the Cats into the Sweet 16 with a 19 point and 10 rebound performance against WVU.
Key was recruited to Kentucky in 2024, and completely transformed as a player in Kentucky blue. With her prior school, North Carolina, she suffered an ACL injury and went on to appear in only 23 games. During the 2024-25 season with Kentucky, the forward more than quadrupled her PPG from 2.5 to 11.4, and more than tripled her RPG from 2.5 to 8.3. Key also averaged 1.7 BPG, which landed her fifth in the league in blocks and third in program history.
She finished this past season at No. 11 in the SEC in both blocks per game and rebounds per game, and recorded seven double-doubles.
