No. 2 Kentucky rifle (2-0) continued its undefeated season, taking down Navy in a close dual match, even with leaderboard inconsistencies.
Kentucky totaled a 4738 team aggregate score, with 2355 in the smallbore and 2383 in air rifle.
Navy kept it close, scoring a 2350 in smallbore and 2380 in air rifle for a 4730 aggregate.
Leading his team once again, Wildcat standout Braden Peiser found himself on top of the individual podium with a career-high aggregate score of 1,195. With a 598 in air rifle and a career-high-tying score of 597 in smallbore, Peiser’s aggregate score was the best in the nation so far this season.
Peiser is now one of only two athletes in the nation who have earned two aggregate scores of 1,190 or higher.
The next three spots on the individual podium were acquired by Midshipmen.
Tyler Wee, Isabella Baldwin and Parker Haydin all placed next behind Peiser. Wee shot an aggregate score of 1,191, Baldwin shot an aggregate score of 1,185 and Haydin shot a 1,184.
The rest of the leaderboard was dominated by Wildcats.
Sam Adkins placed No. 5 on the individual podium with a smallbore score of 586 and an air rifle score of 596, totaling an aggregate score of 1,182. The sophomore was named CRCA All-America honorable mention in both smallbore and air rifle his rookie season.
Sofia Ceccarello’s aggregate score of 1,181 landed her No. 6 individually for the Cats. Her scores of 585 smallbore and 596 air rifle edged her just under her fellow Wildcat teammate Adkins but just above No. 7 Brandon Evans.
Evans’ aggregate score of 1,181 consisted of a smallbore score of 587 and an air rifle score of 594 to help edge him just past Martin Voss, who shot an aggregate score of 1,176 with a smallbore of 587 and an air rifle score of 589.
Evans is a recipient of the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s Three-Position Smallbore Distinguished Badge No. 1, the highest individual award authorized by the U.S. government for excellence in marksmanship competition.
Voss was named All-GARC Scholar-Athlete of the Year his sophomore and junior seasons, as well as All-GARC honorable mention in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate his junior season.
No. 2 Kentucky rifle is still undefeated this season and looking to uphold that clean record as it travels to West Point, New York, on Oct. 25 to face Army.
