No. 19/25 Kentucky men’s and women’s swim and dive traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee, on Friday to face the No. 3/7 Florida Gators and the No. 6/6 Tennessee Volunteers for a tri-meet inside the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

For the men’s team, the Cats were defeated 238-60 by the Vols and 239-58 by the Gators. For the women, the final tally was 228-72 Tennessee and 241-59 to Florida.

There were three podium finishes in the afternoon: sophomore Ryan Merani, junior Caroline Benda, and freshman diver Kristy Pfaff.

Merani shined for the Cats, taking the first NCAA “B Standard” time of the season for the team (1:45.35) in the men’s 200-meter butterfly stroke. His time gained him second place in the 200-meter fly.

The freshman Pfaff took third place in the women’s three-meter springboard, gathering a new career-best score of 292.90. Benda also took third for the 1,000-meter freestyle, making a time of 9:58.29.

The Wildcats look to bounce back as they return to Knoxville for the Tennessee Invite on Nov. 15-17, looking to take down the Volunteers in the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
