Woman struck by car near Young Library

A UK student was struck while riding her bicycle in front of W. T. Young Library Thursday night.
Susana Martin-Garcia, listed as a post-doctoral scholar in plant pathology on UK’s directory, was riding her bicycle on the University Drive crosswalk when she was struck by a Ford Excursion, said UK Police Chief Joe Monroe.
According to UK Hospital, Martin-Garcia was listed in fair condition as of 11 p.m. Thursday.
The police received a call regarding the accident at 9:21 p.m. At 9:40 p.m. Martin-Garcia was transferred onto a stretcher and admitted to the hospital at 9:52 p.m.
Police said there were no witnesses to the accident.
