Calipari cusses out Jones during game, apologizes on Twitter

During the Alabama game — one in which UK played horribly the first 25 minutes, roared back to within one point late in the game, and then failed to get the go-ahead points on two trips on the way to losing by two points — UK head coach John Calipari had some profane words for freshman Terrence Jones. Here’s a clip:

Calipari apologized on Twitter the very same night.

“First of all I want to apologize for my language at the end of the game,” Calipari tweeted. “I got caught up in the emotion of the game, but that’s no excuse. Sometimes you don’t realize in the moment that what you’re saying is on national TV. The (Big Blue Nation) deserves better and so do my players.”

Jones had a Twitter reply the day after the game:

“I’m happy and blessed for playing for cal don’t think otherwise,” Jones tweeted. “If ur saying ur parents (never) said anything to you that hurt ur feelings and then apologized to you after ur lying.”

Jones scored 17 points on 5-for-13 shooting and had nine rebounds. Calipari has been urging Jones to pass the ball more and become a better player in recent talks with the media.
