Notes: Calipari to announce financial literacy effort, new recruiting rankings, and more

Some afternoon UK notes:

  • John Calipari will “announce a commitment to financial literacy effort” on Aug. 11, according to a UK news release, which describes it as a “major initiative by The Calipari Family Foundation for Children.” The announcement will be made at the Joe Craft Center at 3:30 p.m.
  • ESPNU released its updated recruiting rankings. Most of the UK targets stayed near the same spot, except Perry Ellis, who dropped to No. 38. The full rankings are here.
  • With the U.S. team having arrived in China for the World University Games, the organization released a video with interviews of coaches and players. Said Darius Miller: “I’m glad I got to be a part of something as big as this. I’m just thankful.”
  • CoachCal.com finishes up its profiles of the newcomers, who are embargoed from talking to the rest of the media, with Ryan Harrow. Read it here.
  • Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart are leading a group to Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, to explore issues pertaining to the “build a new arena or renovate Rupp” discussion.
