UK Parking and Transportation Services will offer a free shuttle service from campus to Blue Grass Airport for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This is the eighth consecutive year UK Parking has offered shuttles during both Thanksgiving and spring breaks.

“We understand how hectic holiday travel can be, and we hope that the airport shuttle can take some of the stress out of traveling, as it is one less thing for students to worry about,” said Chrissie Tune, senior marketing and public relations specialist.

Darius Owens, a journalism sophomore, used the shuttle service in 2010 and 2011 while traveling to Virginia for both spring and winter breaks.

“They picked me up, took me all the way to the airport — no problems, no issues,” he said.

Owens said he would recommend other students to use the service because it was quick, easy and free.

“I think it’s a positive move for public relations between UK and its students,” said Nick Wood, a media arts and studies senior. “It helps to show that the university is behind them.”

In order to ride the shuttle, students need to email [email protected] at least 48 hours in advance and include the following information: name, address and phone number as well as a date, time and location of the pickup.

A parking representative will call to confirm the time and location, but students are responsible for their own transportation back to campus.

Monday to Wednesday

Pickup times

Morning: 6, 8 and 10 a.m.

Afternoon: 12, 2 and 4 p.m.
