Lexington under winter storm warning until early Wednesday

A winter storm warning is in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for the Lexington area.

The forecast is overcast with ice pellets and a chance of snow, then ice pellets and a chance of snow after midnight with a low of 32 degrees.

There is a 70 percent of precipitation with accumulation possible up to 2 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Freezing rain also is possible.

Precipitation is expected to end before the morning rush hour, and Lexington crews were preparing streets for sleet Tuesday evening, according to a city news release.
