After going 1-1 this week the Cats will look forward to hosting SEC foe Mississippi State this weekend for a three-game series.

UK (20-8) fell four spots in this week’s polls after losing all three to SEC rival LSU last weekend. The Cats are 2-4 in SEC play and could use a big weekend against MSU to bounce back from last weekend’s sweep.

Offensively the Cats are led by freshman Nikki Saegermann, who is batting .370 on the season. Saegermann hit her first homerun of the year Tuesday night against WKU. On the mound UK is led by freshman Kelsey Nunley and junior Lauren Cumbess. Nunley has an incredible 12-3 record on the year with a 2.21 ERA. Cumbess is 5-2 on the year with a 2.50 ERA.

MSU (20-6, 1-2) has won 14 of its last 16 games and is off to its third best start in school history.

Junior pitcher Allison Owen leads the team in pitching with a 10-3 record and a stellar 1.01 ERA. Owen has only allowed 13 runs this season in her 18 appearances.

At the plate junior catcher Sam Lenahan leads the team with a .403 average and 26 RBIs. Fellow junior infielder Erin Nesbit is hitting .406 with 12 RBIs.

Friday’s game is set to begin at 6 p.m., with both the Saturday and Sunday games beginning at 1 p.m. Admission to all three games is free due to ongoing construction at the stadium.
