UK’s annual Equine Career Fair will be from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday in the E.S. Good Barn.

All UK students interested in a career in the equine industry are encouraged to attend the free event. Internship and volunteer opportunities also will be available.

Sponsored by the UK Ag Equine Programs, the fair will host more than 30 local equine businesses, including the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers’ Club, Alltech, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and Keeneland.

Organizers hope the fair will be a good place for students to begin networking within the equine industry.

“The more networking the students can get out of this, the better,” said agricultural education junior and equine career fair marketing chair Chelsea Whittle.

According to Whittle, the fair also is a great opportunity for freshmen and sophomores to see what jobs are available to them in the industry, and to start planning for what they want to do after they graduate from UK.

In addition to allowing students the opportunity to network with prospective employers at their booths, there will be informational sessions led by industry professionals on topics such as graduate school opportunities, the thoroughbred industry and alternative equine therapies.

Free pizza and refreshments will be available.
