Most UK students who visited Florida for spring break didn’t make history in doing so. The same can’t be said for those students who visited the sunshine state wearing the uniform of No. 9 UK baseball.

On Sunday the Cats knocked off Florida, 6-2, at McKethan Stadium in Gainseville to become the first UK baseball team this millennium to win a series on the road in Gator country.

“Anytime you take two on the road, it’s a good weekend,” UK head coach Gary Henderson said to UKathletics.com.

Junior left-handed pitcher Corey Littrell struck out seven Gators in eight innings of work to claim the win and move to 3-0 on the season.

Junior catcher Micheal Thomas hit a three-run home run in the second inning to send the Cats on their way to victory over Florida (9-11, 1-2 SEC) in the first SEC games of the year for both clubs.

UK (16-2, 2-1 SEC) dropped the first contest of the three-game series, 4-1, before earning an, 11-5, win Saturday and clinching the series Sunday.

Prior to the Florida trip, the Cats defeated Ohio University, 6-3, in Lexington on Tuesday.

The Cats return to the home comforts of Cliff Hagan Stadium this coming Tuesday with a lone game against Western Kentucky. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
