UK target Andrew Wiggins scored 17 points to help the World Select Team beat the USA Select Team, 112-98, in the 16th edition of the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., on Saturday.

Four UK recruits played in the event. Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison and Julius Randle all played for the USA Junior National Select Team while Karl Towns Jr., a Class of 2014 recruit who committed to the Cats in December, played for the World Select Team.

Andrew Harrison started for the USA Select Team and scored 19 points while adding a team-high five assists. He led the game in foul shooting, going 10-of-12 from the line.

His twin brother Aaron Harrison was scoreless in just more than 12 minutes of action.

Randle started alongside Andrew Harrison and  scored 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting and led his team with eight rebounds (five offensive).

It was Wiggins’ second Nike Hoop Summit win after helping the World Select Team to a 84-75 win in 2012. The 6-foot-8, 197-pound small forward scored 20 points last year and earned MVP honors.

Towns scored seven points in more than 16 minutes of action for the World Select team. He added four rebounds and four assists.

Towns and Wiggins were outscored by their World Select teammate, Livio Jean-Charles. The Frenchman scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Both were game highs.

After the game, Andrew Harrison told Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com that he wasn’t going to make excuses for the loss.

“We only had two days to prepare but that’s not an excuse,” Harrison said. “We should have played better defense, but woulda, coulda, shoulda.”

In April, Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Randle and Wiggins competed in the McDonald’s All-American game (April 3), the Jordan Brand Classic (April 13) and the Nike Hoop Summit.

Saturday’s game was their last game as high school athletes.

Wiggins is the only remaining five-star player in the Class of 2013 yet to announce his college destination while the other three will suit up for UK head coach John Calipari next season.

Wiggins told Givony that he’s excited to lie low now that his season is over.

“I’m looking forward to shutting down, getting some rest, getting some me time before it all gets crazy,” Wiggins said.
