Wiltjer to play for Canadian development team in China

Junior forward Kyle Wiljtjer will travel to China to play for the Canadian Development National Team, UK Athletics announced Wednesday.

The Portland, Ore., native, who qualifies for Canada through his father, Greg, will suit up in a series of exhibition games beginning Saturday, according to a UK Athletics press release.

Former Toronto Raptors head coach Jay Triano will coach Wiltjer and his teammates in the exhibition series.

Wiltjer may yet play further international basketball this summer.

He is in the running for a spot on Canda’s roster for the World University Games.

The games take place in Kazan, Russia, from July 6 to 17.
