Under a new policy, students will only have to change their link blue password once every two years.

The link blue password policy has been updated for the 2013-14 school year, according to a UK news release.

Previously, students were required to change their password every 90 days. The password allows access to the students’ Blackboard and MyUK accounts.

Employee passwords, however, will expire every 180 days.

The new policy will take effect when current passwords expire. Once changed after expiration, students and employees will then follow the new policy, according to the release.

For both students and employees, password complexity requirements will not change. However, 12 characters will be the new minimum length for all link blue passwords.

Link blue passwords, which will continue to be managed through the UK Account Manager, can be entered incorrectly up to 150 times before the student is locked out of his or her account, according to the release.

This is so students can change passwords on mobile devices, IT Marketing Manager Ashley Tabb said.
