Woodland Ave. closed

Woodland Avenue will remain closed from Hilltop Avenue to Columbia Avenue to all traffic into Thursday due to construction set to fix an unstable portion of the road.

Woodland is expected to reopen to one-lane traffic in about 24 hours, said Chief Joe Monroe of the UK Police Department.

The road was deemed unstable after rainfall caused erosion where contractors were laying a new sewer line, Monroe said.

Christian Student Fellowship staff member Keith McMunn said the closed road has caused problems for some people who work at the CSF building, which sits on the closed portion of Woodland.

“Actually, it’s a huge bother to a lot of people I work with because they drive here,” McMunn said. “When you’re inside our building there’s a jackhammer … that’s super loud. But we’ve gotten used to it.”
