Student robbed in near-campus neighborhood

A UK student was robbed Wednesday night on University Drive, police said.

The victim told police three men knocked on their apartment door at about 9:50 p.m. and forced their way into the home, Lexington police Lt. Richard Willoby said. The men wore hockey masks and had hand guns. Lexington and UK police responded.

The men stole money, a laptop and checks, Willoby said.

Police were questioning one possible supsect as of 11:45 p.m. but no charges had been filed, Willoby said.

The victim was a UK student, UK spokeswoman Kathy Johnson said. A UK Alert was not sent out because the burglary “did not occur on camps or in a location in relation to campus that requires a UK Alert to be issued,” she said.

No injuries were reported. Police are investigating.
