The Cats closed out the weekend with their second win in a row with a road win at Ohio University. The Cats handled the Bobcats easily with a final score of 3-0.

UK outshot Ohio 19-6 for the game, nine of which were on goal. The Bobcats only had three shots on goal. UK also earned six total corner kicks while Ohio only earned one.

The first UK goal of the game came in the first half from freshman midfielder Jessica Lazo in the 30th minute. This was Lazo’s first goal of her collegiate career.

The score remained at 1-0 going into halftime.

Eva Mitchell, who scored the only goal in the victory against Western Illinois on Friday evening, came up big in this match as well. Mitchell scored her third goal of the season in the 78th minute from an assist from freshman defensive player Taya Edwards. This was Edwards’ first point of her collegiate career.

The Bobcats had no response for the 2-0 lead the Cats had created, but the Cats weren’t finished yet.

Senior midfielder Katy Keen scored on a long-range shot straight up the middle and blew the ball right past the Bobcats goalkeeper in the 82nd minute, making the score 3-0.

That was all she wrote after the final goal was scored by Keen.

On the defensive side UK’s sophomore goalkeeper Evangeline Soucie had three saves during the match.

With this win against Ohio the Cats move to 4-4 on the season. This win also puts UK back to .500 on the season after facing some fierce competition during their non-conference schedule.

The Cats will look to earn their fifth win of the season as they close out their non-conference schedule with a home game against Lipscomb on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Bell Soccer Complex.
