Blue Stallion Brewing Co. releases new Thunder Munder beer

Catching lightning in a bottle might be a hard task, but the folks at the Blue Stallion Brewing Company are hoping to do just that with the release of their new beer, Thunder Munder.

On Friday, Nov. 17, the Lexington brewery collaborated with Mirror Twin Brewing Co. to create a new Dortmunder, a bright, malty beer with 6.1 percent ABV (alcohol by volume) and an IBU (international bitterness unit) of 50.

The Blue Stallion took inspiration from this famous beer originally created for the working class and rolled out their own creation.

“I like it, it’s really good actually,” customer Kent Brouwer said. “I would purchase it again.”

Thunder Munder is one of the 20 beers currently on tap, and it was a hit with the crowd.

“I would absolutely purchase this again,” customer Christopher Cancellor said. “It’s reasonably priced, too.”

Casey Collins, an attendee for the Thunder Munder release, said he does not typically drink beer but was “pretty surprised with the taste” and that he would purchase the beer again.

The atmosphere was packed, with people talking, playing pool and enjoying their Thunder Munder beer.

Blue Stallion Brewing Co. is located on 610 West Third St.

The company’s hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
