Coming off a 29-point victory over in-state rival Louisville and a five-point victory over Georgia in their first SEC game of the year, UK basketball drops one spot in the AP Top 25 Poll, to No. 17.

After a loss to unranked UCLA last week that dropped them to No. 16, the Cats had two straight home wins led by guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander that improved the team’s record to 11-2.

UK is ranked six spots below SEC opponent Texas A&M, who just dropped from No. 5 to No. 11 after a 22-point loss to unranked Alabama. The Aggies are the only SEC team ranked ahead of the Cats, and the two teams will face off Jan. 9.
