Jewish Student Center’s Seder meals are open to all UK students

In celebration of Passover, the Jewish Student Center will be holding two Seder meals this weekend— and the meals are open to all UK students who want to experience an authentic Seder.

Rabbi Litvin of the Jewish Student Center said that Passover is the longest continuous tradition in Western society. He said this will be the 3,330th annual celebration of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt as detailed in the Torah.

Passover, Rabbi Litvin said, is an eight-day-long celebration which begins this Friday at sundown; because the Jewish calendar is based on the moon, a day begins when the sun sets.

At the Jewish Student Center, there will be a Burning of the Leaven on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and the first Seder will be at 7:30 p.m.

The second Seder meal begins Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.

Those looking to attend should RSVP here or by calling the Jewish Student Center at 859-813-0770 by Thursday.
