BREAKING: State Street filled and emptied in just over an hour after UK’s Sweet 16 loss

Thousands of students gathered on State Street to watch UK’s Sweet 16 game against Kansas State projected on the side of a house. Those fans watched UK lose to Kansas State, 61-58. 

There is a heavy police presence in the area. Dozens of heavily armed police are on the street, some of whom are armed with paintball guns.

No arrests or medical transports were made from State Street, the City of Lexington told media shortly after 1 a.m. 

At 1:34 a.m., the city announced that State Street and the streets in the surrounding area reopened.
