Five people were arrested at Keeneland Saturday in a tailgating area on charges of alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to reporting from the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The tailgating area they were arrested in is frequented by college students, a Kernel photographer at the scene said.

A Lexington police public information officer said that another officer was trying to make an arrest for underage drinking when bottles were thrown at the arresting officer.

According to the Herald-Leader, a radio dispatch at 3:25 p.m. said there was a “200-person disorder, throwing items at the police.” However, police later said that was an initial estimate and the exact number is not known.
