Another Top 5 ranking is in order for John Calipari’s UK basketball team.

UK basketball will be ranked No. 2 to start the season, with Kansas as the only team above the Cats in the rankings. The Cats will play Kansas in Rupp Arena on Jan. 26, 2019.

The Cats’ schedule is loaded with top talent. UK will match up against No. 4 Duke to open the season, and will play No. 8 North Carolina on Dec. 22.

The Cats’ conference schedule is no joke, either. The SEC sees a second team in the preseason Top 10 (No. 6 Tennessee), another team in the Top 15 (No. 11 Auburn) and another in the Top 20 (No. 18 Mississippi State). The Cats will play each of these teams twice this season.

The SEC also has teams knocking on the door of the rankings. Other SEC teams receiving votes include Florida, Alabama and Missouri.

UK’s basketball season will open on Nov. 6 against Duke in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
