The J. David Rosenberg College of Law announced Greg Van Tatenhove will serve as dean of the college effective July 1, 2026, pending approval from the Board of Trustees.
In an email sent by Provost Robert DiPaola on March 6, Tatenhove, the current U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky, accepted the offer to replace interim dean Jim Duff.
DiPaola listed Tatenhove’s credentials:
- U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky
- Chief of staff for Rep. Ron Lewis
- Honors program trial attorney in the Department of Justice
- Judge and lecturer in the Trial Advocacy program for assistant United States attorneys
- National Advocacy Center member
- Judge of the Vincent S. Dalsimer Moot Court Competition at Pepperdine University
Tatenhove also has experience chairing the following committees, according to the email:
- Judicial Conference Committee on Court Administration and Case Management
- Sixth Circuit Criminal Pattern
- Jury Instruction Committee
- Kentucky Attorney General’s Advisory Committee
Since 2017, Tatenhove has served as an adjunct instructor in the UK course “Crime and Punishment: Sentencing Policy and Procedure.”
“Greg’s experience advancing strategic goals and engaging with broad groups of internal and external stakeholders will allow him to work closely with faculty, staff and students to further the College of Law’s mission of providing first-class law education and preparing students to be leaders and scholars,” DiPaola wrote.
