Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn released the autopsy of “Infant Snelling,” ruling the cause of death “inconclusive” on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Ginn stated “expansive microscopic analyses” are “essential to determine the cause and manner of death.”
University of Kentucky senior Laken Snelling, 21, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 27, after an unresponsive infant was found in her closet wrapped in a towel, inside a trash bag. The infant was later pronounced dead and Snelling was identified as the mother.
Ginn confirmed the infant was male and the time of death was 10:59 a.m. on Aug. 27.
“We are currently conducting a thorough and methodical death investigation to ensure all facts are carefully considered,” Ginn said in the report. “This death investigation remains open pending the results of these studies.”
