It was a special day for Kentucky women’s tennis as it honored seniors Ellie Eades, Lidia Gonzalez and Elizabeth Stevens.
The Wildcats clinched two wins on senior day as they defeated Florida and Bellarmine in a doubleheader. Their record stands at 11-11 with two matches left before the SEC Tournament.
Stevens, a fifth-year senior, wrapped up a successful career. She played most of the season at the top of the singles lineup and was part of a doubles team with Makayla Mills that earned national rankings as high as No. 36.
Stevens came to Kentucky as a top player from Oregon and became not only a leader, but also a consistent player over her years.
Eades also made her mark playing singles and doubles while at UK. She had several key wins over the years, one of which was a match-clinching victory in the SEC Tournament as a junior.
This season, she saw solid results in doubles with her partner, Stevens.
Gonzalez brought experience from Spain and gave the Wildcats a strong presence on the court. Although her junior season ended early due to an injury, she still finished with 13 wins and competed in doubles.
These three seniors had a day to celebrate their hard work and commitment to the program. Their impact will be felt long after they leave Lexington.
