My name is Laney Harris, and I am from Columbus, Ohio. I am a 21-year-old undergraduate student at the University of Kentucky, where I will graduate in May 2026 with a dual degree in Journalism and Communication with a minor in Law and Justice.

I have served as a copy editor for the Kentucky Kernel and am currently the editor for the opinions and features desk.

During my time at UK, I have also interned with the Administrative Office of the Courts and Kentucky Alumni magazine, gaining experience as an editor, communicator and journalist.

After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in editing or public relations. Long term, I aim to attend law school and become an intellectual property attorney, with the goal of defending journalists and the arts in an increasingly technology-driven society.
