Homecoming festivities continued on Tuesday night with the fourth annual Royalty Showcase.

Memorial Hall was filled with supportive friends and family as the 2017 Homecoming Court presented their talents and went through a question and answer segment.

This year’s homecoming court consists of five king and five queen candidates. All are considered well-rounded students and members of the Lexington community.

The king candidates are Gammon Fain, Matthew Hollinden, Noah Lewis, Wes Taylor and Tyler Ward. The queen candidates are Elizabeth Foster, Blair Johnson, Libby Langlois, Jada Linton and Erika Penrose.

The Royalty Showcase began at 7 p.m., but Memorial Hall was full 15 minutes before the show.

The organizations competing for the Wildcat Cup showed out in full force for the event because attendance to homecoming events is factored into points for the Wildcat Cup.

With talents ranging from singing to standup comedy, the night was entertaining and the audience enjoyed every moment.

Langlois, Chi Omega’s nomination and Ward, DanceBlue’s nomination, each won the Spirit of UK award for exhibiting the ideals and spirit of UK during their talent performances. Langlois sang a mash-up of popular hits, while Ward played the fiddle.

Jada Linton, nominated by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, took home the Showcase’s Overall Talent Winner for her cover of Katy Perry’s “Roar.”

Voting for king and queen is now open and will be until 9 p.m. on Oct. 4. The directions for voting are here.
