Kentucky women’s golf team delivered a steady weekend performance to finish third at the Valspar Augusta Invitational at Forest Acres Golf Club.
Kentucky posted rounds of 285, 290 and 294 to finish at 5-over-par 869, marking its second-best 54-hole total through eight events this season. The Wildcats remained consistent throughout the tournament, entering the final round in third place and holding that position through the final day of play.
Missouri claimed the team title at 2-under, while Furman finished second at 2-over, narrowly ahead of Kentucky.
The Wildcats were led by a pair of Kentucky natives in Cathryn Brown and C.A. Carter, who each finished tied for eighth at even-par 216. Carter’s performance marked the first top-10 finish of her collegiate career, while Brown continued her strong season with her fifth top-10 result.
Anastasia Hekkonen added another solid outing, finishing tied for 14th at 2-over. The sophomore has now recorded four top-15 finishes this season, continuing to provide consistency in Kentucky’s lineup.
Raleygh Simpson turned in one of the most notable performances of the weekend. The sophomore finished tied for 18th at 3-over after recording two even-par rounds, tying her career best. She climbed seven spots on the leaderboard during Sunday’s final round and led the entire field on par-5 scoring, finishing 6-under on those holes.
Karlie Campbell rounded out the Wildcats’ lineup, finishing tied for 42nd at 10-over. She improved in each round and closed with her best score of the tournament on Sunday.
Kentucky’s depth was a key factor in the result, with four players finishing inside the top 20. The lineup also avoided major setbacks in the final round, as no player shot worse than 2-over, helping the team maintain its standing against a competitive 17-team field.
The Wildcats showed balance throughout the event, combining steady scoring with timely low rounds. After opening with a 3-under team performance in the first round, Kentucky stayed within striking distance of the lead but was unable to close the gap on Missouri and Furman down the stretch.
Through eight events this season, Kentucky continues to build a strong résumé with consistent finishes and multiple contributors across the lineup.
