Kentucky softball (4-1) defeated Minnesota 8-0 in run-rule fashion to close out the San Diego State Season Kickoff in San Diego, Cal.
Her moment came after freshman Alexa Riddel’s RBI-single in the top of the second inning to right field. With two Cats on base, Anson ripped the ball over the left field wall for a three-run home run, driving the score to 4-0.
Allie Blum’s RBI-single helped to drive Emory Donaldson home after her triple. The Wildcats continued to add to that lead with their offense remaining consistent and quickly closing out the game in five innings, recording nine hits.
Anson currently sits with three hits in 14 at-bats, giving her a batting average of .214. She also has played in all six games so far for Kentucky.
Along with that, not only did she win her district championship in Michigan, but she also recorded 24 home runs in her last completed season.
Anson is a very promising player still growing into her college career and proving herself to Coach Rachel Lawson and the rest of her team. Her ability to show up for her team and set the tone early allowed the Wildcats to apply steady pressure and come out on top.
Anson and the Wildcats improved to 4-1 to help kick off the 2026 season.
