Kentucky Wildcats men’s tennis team concluded its fall 2025 campaign at the NCAA Singles Championship, following two strong efforts that ultimately fell short of the championship.
Juniors Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson advanced to the Round of 32, each winning their opening matches before being eliminated, concluding the individual season.
No. 28 Loutit, playing in his second NCAA singles tournament, defeated UNLV’s Illia Maksymchuk 6-1, 7-5 to start. Despite his opponent’s four-game comeback in the second set, Loutit held on to win the match.
Following the win, Loutit then went on to face Michigan’s No. 111 Max Dahlin. Despite the back-and-forth match, Loutit fell short, going down 6-4, 6-3, losing multiple break points, ultimately costing him the match.
Stephenson, making his championship debut, dominated No. 116 Luis Felipe Miguel of Florida State 6-2, 6-0 in just 52 minutes. This marked his fifth-ranked win during the tournament season.
He then faced No. 83 Ilia Snitari of UNLV and lost a tough three-set match 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3. After a back-and-forth first set, Stephenson went on a 5-0 run to take the opening frame. Stephenson would look to keep his momentum going, but would be subdued by Snitari dropping the next two sets.
The Wildcats turn their attention to the spring team schedule, scheduled to start in January, now that the individual portion of the season is over.
Both players qualifying for the NCAA singles draw showed what they had developed during the fall that played the groundwork for the upcoming team portion of the season.
