Doricah Minsari Isoe has continued to prove growing importance to Kentucky cross country, shining as a top Wildcat athlete amidst eighth place finishes for Kentucky at the SEC Cross Country Championships. 

In only her third career meet, freshman Minsari Isoe has maintained the front runner in all three showings on the women’s side. During the SEC Cross Country Championships, Minsari Isoe placed 12th in the women’s 6K with a time of 20:27.04. 

The women finished the championships with a score of 193 points, and the men’s side ended with 180 points. 

The Kisii, Kenya native has made huge strides for the Cats, placing six, 11 and 10 spots above her teammates in each of her first three respective meets.

During her first career meet, Minsari Isoe placed 10th at the Cowboy Jamboree (20:42.02) and during her second at the Pre-National Invitational, she earned a personal record time of 19:55.07 in a 16th-place finish. 

Prior to Kentucky, Minsari Isoe most recently competed in the International School Sport Federation (ISF) World Cross Country event held at Ngong Race Course in Kenya in 2024, where she finished ninth in the girls U18 race. She was also a 2024 ISF World Cross Country Championships qualifier. 

Now following the 2025 SEC Cross Country Championships, Minsari Isoe is among five Wildcats named to the 2025 All-SEC Cross Country Teams. 

The freshman was named to her first career All-SEC Team and All-Freshman Team. 

Also, during the championships, junior Ed Bird was the first to cross the finish line for the Cats, taking 17th place with a time of 23:44.93. Following Bird, Collins Kiprop Kipngok took 21st (23:56.15) and Levi Kipkurui Bachi took 26th (24:04.93). 

All three men were also named to the 2025 All-SEC Cross Country teams, with Bird and Kiprop Kipngok being named to the All-SEC Third Team, and Kipkurui Bachi being named to the All-Freshman team. 

The Cat that came closest to Minsari Isoe in the meet were Janet Jepkemboi Amimo, who placed 20th with a time of 20:38.14. Jepkemboi Amimo was named to the All-SEC Third Team. 

Kentucky cross country will continue its post-season on Friday, Nov. 14, in Charlottesville, Va. at Panorama Farms for the NCAA Southeast Regional.
