Kentucky men’s golf team is set to tee off for another season headlined by some returners and some newcomers.
Several Wildcats entered the season after spending the summer competing in U.S. Open qualifying rounds. While none advanced to the championship field, the experience against elite competition gave Kentucky a strong starting point for the fall schedule.
The Wildcats return four players from last year’s roster, including Jack Schoenberger, who led the team with 18 total rounds of even par or better during last year’s season. Sophomore Jacob Lang also highlights the lineup after reaching the final qualifying stage of the US Open.
Kentucky added to its roster this year with three freshmen. Charles Cauthen came in as the No. 35 ranked player in the class of 2025, while being the No. 1 ranked player in his home state of South Carolina.
Cameron Phillips out of Portsmouth, Ohio is another addition to the roster. Phillips was the No. 40 ranked player in the class of 2025. Just like Cauthen, Phillips was the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Ohio while being an Ohio High School State Champion, and a 2x AJGA Champion.
Cole Stockard from Dalton, GA was the highest ranked player that Kentucky signed this season. Stockard was the No. 7 ranked player in the class of 2025, while being the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Georgia. Just like his teammate Phillips, he is also an AJGA Champion, Runner-up in the Southern Junior Am and a Rolex Second Team All American.
Looking to build off of last year’s performances, Kentucky will compete in nine regular season events, four in the fall and five in the spring, while hosting its last event in Lexington. Following that, the Wildcats will set their eyes on the SEC Tournament.
