No. 24 Kentucky softball (13-6) defeated Tennessee Tech (6-9) and Western Kentucky (12-6) on Saturday in Bowling Green.
The Wildcats beat Tennessee Tech 4-3.
The Golden Eagles’ Abbee Klinefelter scored the first run in the second inning.
In the third inning, Tennessee Tech added another run as Olivia Evans scored on an error by the Cats.
Kentucky scored its first two runs of the game in the fifth inning. Lauryn Borzilleri hit a home run to left center for the first run and McKenzie Bump scored the other run following Peyton Plotts’ single.
In the seventh inning, the Golden Eagles’ Julie Martin scored an unearned run after an error by the shortstop. Kentucky finished the game with runs from Allie Blum and Hallie Mitchell.
The Wildcats won the second game 8-5 against Western Kentucky.
Kentucky started the game off strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. Those runs came with the help of triples from both Mitchell and Plotts.
WKU answered in the second inning with two runs. Maci Masters hit a home run and Annie White also scored as a result.
In the fourth inning, the Hilltoppers tied the game at three following a home run by Kendle White.
Kentucky’s Delani Sullivan tripled, resulting in three runs for the Cats in the fifth inning.
In the sixth inning, the Wildcats extended their lead to 8-3 after Borzilleri tripled down the right field line.
Western Kentucky closed the gap slightly, scoring two runs in the seventh inning, but it ultimately wasn’t enough.
Kentucky returns to action against the Evansville Aces Sunday at 11 a.m. as it plays the final game of the 2025 Hilltopper Spring Fling and conclude its pre-conference schedule.
